It’s freaking difficult to workout with a newborn. It just is, plain and simple. You’re exhausted, they’re crying, if you’re breastfeeding you’re craving food every 5 minutes, and if you’re back at work, there’s just not enough time in the day to fit in a work out.
A baby monitor is expensive. If you want some of the top notch ones, you can look at spending about £90 and being that my baby is staying in our room for 6 months, it just doesn’t seem worth it at the moment. However, there are times where my baby falls asleep in our office while I’m working and I find I need to go into another room for a minute (like the bathroom), but don’t want to disturb her by taking her with me.
First, let’s be real. Breastfeeding in public sucks. Regardless if your boobs out/covered, whatever, I’d much rather be home breastfeeding surrounded by pillows in my pajamas with a box set of Friends nearby rather than on a park bench next to some random person who I can’t tell whether or not they’re offended by me feeding my screaming newborn.
So that aside, I had my first real restaurant experience this past week and let me tell you, it was horrible which is why I’m writing this post to perhaps help promote change within the food industry to accommodate breastfeeding mothers. And no, I’m not saying you should change entire layouts of restaurants or wait on me hand and foot. These are very simple suggestions that hopefully will allow me to feel more confident eating out which is my friggin right regardless of what’s stuck on my nipple.
I know everyone tells you that you never know what you’re going to be like as a parent until you become one. That all your preconceived notions of parenting are forever changed once that baby arrives into your world. I can tell you that this is completely true. I never once thought I would be into attachment parenting. I actually used to laugh at the idea… but I see that now I’ve actually become one and I feel like it’s actually been the best choice for me and my family.
