It’s freaking difficult to workout with a newborn. It just is, plain and simple. You’re exhausted, they’re crying, if you’re breastfeeding you’re craving food every 5 minutes, and if you’re back at work, there’s just not enough time in the day to fit in a work out.
A baby monitor is expensive. If you want some of the top notch ones, you can look at spending about £90 and being that my baby is staying in our room for 6 months, it just doesn’t seem worth it at the moment. However, there are times where my baby falls asleep in our office while I’m working and I find I need to go into another room for a minute (like the bathroom), but don’t want to disturb her by taking her with me.
So you’ve now had your little one and got the okay from the doctor to start working out again, but you find that you have little/no time to head to the gym and have no CLUE where to start with at home workout programs or just have no workout experience whatsoever. I’m here to help! Granted, I’m not a healthcare professional or a personal trainer, but I have done my fair share of fitness programs and I’d like to share with you my experiences so I can help get you on the right track.
First, let’s be real. Breastfeeding in public sucks. Regardless if your boobs out/covered, whatever, I’d much rather be home breastfeeding surrounded by pillows in my pajamas with a box set of Friends nearby rather than on a park bench next to some random person who I can’t tell whether or not they’re offended by me feeding my screaming newborn.
So that aside, I had my first real restaurant experience this past week and let me tell you, it was horrible which is why I’m writing this post to perhaps help promote change within the food industry to accommodate breastfeeding mothers. And no, I’m not saying you should change entire layouts of restaurants or wait on me hand and foot. These are very simple suggestions that hopefully will allow me to feel more confident eating out which is my friggin right regardless of what’s stuck on my nipple.
When I was preparing for my darling little girl, I was so confident she would not get nappy rash. I did everything to find information on the subject including watching people wipe their children for tips on YouTube. So much so that I didn’t even buy any nappy rash cream.
My newborn’s first 5 weeks of life were pretty crazy and nothing like I really imagined. Granted I knew my days of uninterrupted sleep were over, but there were a few other things that I didn’t anticipate. So without further adieu, here are 5 facts I’ve learned over my baby’s first 5 weeks of life:
When we started this journey, I had every intention of having my baby sleep in her own crib (the Snuzpod) next to our bed, but unfortunately she’s spending little time in her crib and more time cosleeping next to us.
I was always so worried about co-sleeping due to both SIDS and the chance of smothering my child accidentally as I tend to move a lot in my sleep, however, at the moment our little girl only seems to fall asleep next to mommy and somehow I’ve just fallen straight into it. Where before I’d roll around the bed, I’m completely static now with one arm around Ali and the bedside crib right next to us with the mesh covering folded down.
Sleep is a very sought after currency in our household with a newborn. Whenever you can sneak a nap in, you attempt to do it. Sometimes the baby wakes up, sometimes she doesn’t. It’s very difficult to manage especially when you have things you need to get done around the house on top of taking care of the little one. I’ve put together a list of tips I’m currently following in order to ensure you don’t lose out on sleep.
